Head Hunting IT is looking for an .Embedded Systems Developer to join the team of one of our clients in Netherlands.

The client is a large European Cable Operator developing a next generation DTV platform providing triple-play and over-the-top video services to its customers.

As part of this project, the client is looking for an Embedded Systems Developer to contribute to the port of a Middleware Framework on a legacy embedded STB. The developer will work with TV applications developers.

Main Responsibilities:
• Port of a small footprint middleware onto a Linux BSP;
• Support the integration, debugging and tuning of TV applications;
• Contribute to and create detailed technical designs;
• Participate in pilot deployment;
Context/Environment:
• Position is within the Architectural Department;
• Position is based Schiphol-Rijk, Amsterdam;
• International travel as required (weekly fly-backs to home city are allowed);

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Education level: Minimum of bachelor degree;
Experience: Minimum of 5+ years related experience in an expert delivery environment within STB/DVB/DTV arena;
Expert Knowledge in/of:
• Solid understanding of C, C++;
• Knowledge of ARM, x86, MIPS64, Microchip 8 & 16 bit architectures;
• Expert knowledge of Operating Systems such as VxWorks or Linux/RTLinux/ucLinux (including ability to develop Linux kernel patches);
• Good knowledge of Device Drivers and device driver development and tuning;
• Graphics chip set programming skills;
• Graphics application development skills on embedded systems;
Extended experience in:
• Working with customers to explain their options, review the benefits of each solution and ensure the customer’s business requirements are satisfied with the design;
• Experience/ability to be technology lead supporting the setup of an overall architecture, reviewing and approving designs with tech leads, code reviews, debugging;
• Strong analytical skills; ability to see at both the high level view and focus on detail if required; ability to apply technology to solve business problems;
• Determination and drive to consistently and successfully deliver according to commitment (results driven);

Job Description
• Pro-active individual - able to see issues and suggest solutions before they arise. Fluent in
• English, other European languages are an advantage;
• Good communication skills and understanding of various cultures;
• Below skills are an added advantage:
• Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle;
• Other languages such as Assembler;
• Experience with DVB and MPEG digital TV standards;
• Experience with Conditional Access / Digital Rights Management systems;
• Experience with cloud-based client implementations.
